High country hit with more snow as Loveland winds down ski season

Arapahoe Basin scheduled to operate until June 2

While the northern mountains of Colorado saw more than a foot in some places early Wednesday morning, the two holdout ski areas still operating this season – Loveland and Arapahoe Basin – got a more modest shot of three to four inches respectively.

However, more snow was expected throughout the day.

Loveland closes for the season on Sunday, May 5, with beer, barbecue and live music from Boo Daddy (Saturday) and Arnie J. Green (Sunday) and $36 lift tickets for anyone who brings in a season pass from another ski area.

Go the Loveland website for more information.

A-Basin will then be open for nearly a month, closing for the season on Sunday, June 2.

Aspen Highlands, which re-opened for one final weekend, closed for the season on Sunday, April 28, after a surge of late snow provided ideal spring conditions.

Closing weekend weather could be a little unsettled at Loveland. Opensnow.com is calling for a brief break in the weather later this week, then more snow up high on Saturday.

“Thursday and Friday should be dry,” the website reported. “Then high elevation snow showers and low elevation rain showers will move back into the mountains over the weekend.”
