Second Beaver Creek Snowshoe Adventure Series race set for Sunday

The second event of the Beaver Creek Snowshoe Adventure Series will happen this Sunday, Feb. 5 in Beaver Creek's Creekside Park.

Located directly below Beaver Creek Village at an elevation of 7,400 feet, Creekside Park provides a scenic backdrop for the second race in the three-event series. Registration and check in for Sunday's event will begin at 9 a.m. in Beaver Creek Village and the races will commence promptly at 11 a.m.

The Beaver Creek Snowshoe Adventure Series draws first-time snowshoers, world-class snowshoe athletes, kids of all ages and everyone inbetween. Each event within the series includes the East West Resorts 5K Quest, the competitive Cadillac 10K, the Larkburger Kids 1K and the 100-yard Dash for Cash with a $100 prize.

Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in the East West Resorts 5K Quest and the Cadillac 10K. Each of the Beaver Creek Snowshoe Adventure Series events also features slope-slide sponsor expos and gear demos from Atlas Snow-Shoe Company and Columbia Sportswear.

Atlas Snow-Shoe Company will provide a limited number of free snowshoe demos and basic instruction to participants prior to the event at the event start area. All snowshoes are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Following the race, a post-event party and awards ceremony will take place on the Beaver Creek Village Plaza with complimentary food and beverages provided by The Metropolitan and Rimini as well as raffle prizes. All event participants are eligible to win the post-race raffle prizes courtesy of many of the series'sponsors, including Atlas Snow-Shoe Company and Clif Bar, as well as gifts from numerous Vail Valley merchants.

Pre-registration for the remaining two events of the series, taking place on Feb. 5 and March 11, is available online for just $30 and closes at 5 p.m. the night prior to each event. Event-day registration is available for $35 and will take place in Beaver Creek starting at 9 a.m. prior to each event. The Kids' 1K for children 12 years-of-age and younger is free for any child accompanied by a participating parent.
