Helicopter continues work on replacing Rose Bowl lift at Beaver Creek

A helicopter was used Wednesday to remove the old lift towers of Beaver Creek's Rose Bowl chairlift and to fly in concrete for a new high-speed quad lift being installed this summer. The helicopter will continue to fly in the rest of the concrete today.

The new Rose Bowl Lift (Chair 4), a high speed Doppelmayr detachable quad, will transport 2,400 people per hour and the new ride time will be cut nearly in half to five and a half minutes.

The planned side-load chair will transport people to the top of today's existing Rose Bowl Lift.

It's hope the lift upgrade will improve the experience for snow riders by spreading skiers and snowboarders across the main mountain more and reducing crowding on the Cinch Express Lift (Chair 8) and Centennial Express Lift (Chair 6).

The resort also plans to increase its grooming operations, offering more variety in Rose Bowl, including on some of its black diamond runs, and allowing skiers and riders a wide variety of terrain options accessed from the new lift.
