Thieves hit Edwards jewelry store for $30,000 in merchandise

Same foursome suspected in similar Vail heist late last year

The Eagle County Sheriff's Office is on the lookout for four suspected thieves who made off with $30,000 in jewelry from Portofino Jewelry in the Riverwalk complex in Edwards.

Police say one couple distracted a sales clerk while another couple cleaned out a display case. The four are also suspected of pulling off a similar heist in Vail late last year (see youtube video below).

EDWARDS, CO – The Eagle County Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft of multiple pieces of jewelry at Portofino Jewelry located in Riverwalk.

The suspects walked into the store as a group and immediately separated to opposite ends of the store. Investigators believe that while one couple distracted the salesperson the other couple cleaned out a display case of jewelry.

Investigators are looking for anyone in the community with information about the identities of the suspects in this investigation.

Suspect 1 is described as a female with a dark complexion, in her mid-20's, approximately 5'04”, approximately 135 pounds with black hair. At the time of the theft suspect 1 was wearing a red wool cap, black framed reading glasses, tan fleece jacket, and jeans.

Suspect 2 is described as a male with a dark complexion, in his mid-20's, approximately 5'10”, approximately 165 pounds with black hair.

Suspect 3 is described as a female with a dark complexion, in her mid-40's, approximately 5'05”, approximately 145 pounds, with long black wavy hair and a large gaps between her teeth. At the time of the theft suspect 3 was wearing a red jacket.

Suspect 4 is described as a male with a dark complexion, in his mid-40's, approximately 5'10”, approximately 170 pounds with black hair.

In excess of $30,000 worth of jewelry was taken from Portofino Jewelry. The suspects of this theft are believed to be the same four people involved in the jewelry store thefts that occurred late last year in Vail. Eagle County Sheriff's Office detectives are working with Vail Police Department detectives on this case. The Eagle County Sheriff's Office will continue to investigate this incident. If your tip leads to the arrest and indictment of any suspect involved, you could earn up to a $1,000 reward from the Crime Stoppers.
