Body of unidentified female found in Eagle River near Gypsum wastewater plant

Police recovered the body of an unidentified female from a sandbar in the Eagle River in Gypsum on Friday.

According to the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office, a fisherman spotted the body at 3 p.m. near the Gypsum Wastewater Treatment Facility.

Sheriff's deputies and members of the Gypsum Fire Protection District and Eagle County Ambulance District recovered the body shortly after 3:30 p.m.

The Eagle County Coroner’s Office is working to determine an identity and a cause of death. The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation.
