VRD's Vail Strides Running Club offers weekly runs

Residents and visitors are encouraged to join the Vail Recreation District (VRD) for the return of its free, weekly running club this summer that will lead participants around Vail's scenic recreation paths and on Vail Mountain's trails.

The Vail Strides Running Club, sponsored by the Vail Chophouse, will be led by local runner Greg Decent and will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Thursdays, beginning today (June 7) at the Vail Chophouse in LionsHead, adjacent to the Eagle Bahn Gondola.

The weekly runs are free and participants will receive a free Vail Strides Running Club T-shirt while they last. Most runs will be between five and eight miles and all ages, experience and abilities are welcome. Runners should have a running base and feel comfortable at altitude. The club is a great way to meet new training partners or just have fun running the roads and paths surrounding Vail.

Runs will be followed by light stretching and a cool down and then a free beverage (beer or soda) compliments of the Vail Chophouse. Runners are also encouraged to enjoy a three course meal at the Vail Chophouse, one of Vail's best steak and seafood restaurants, for just $38.
