Summer-like weather for Saturday; snow and wind by Monday

April surprises again

No April Fools today, or Saturday. It's going to be warm.

Abundant sunshine with high clouds for Saturday, April 2, with on-mountain highs reaching the upper 40's. Radiant heating will make it feel near the 60's. Valley locations can expect the first big melt of the season as Gypsum (30 miles west of Vail) is looking at breaking into the 70's tomorrow.

This will all be short lived as southwest winds will begin to increase Sunday, April 3, with clouds thickening as the day moves on. Sunday will still be warm, with on-mountain temps in the 30's and winds sustained in the 20-mph range and gusts in the 30's. Rain will turn to snow overnight Sunday, with lighter totals expected for Monday, April 4.

I expect 2-4 inches of thick "Sierra Cement" on the ground for Monday, with snow showers and wind. We will keep close watch over the next 48 hours.

For now, grab the sunscreen and the Rain-X as the sun will burn and begin to melt our already 450 inches of snow.

Enjoy!
