A free concert with O.A.R. on Friday kicks off the 2013 edition of Spring Back to Vail, with a weekend jam-packed with events, including Bud Light Après and Late Night parties, the World Pond Skimming Championships and three free marquis concerts.

Friday, April 12 brings the first all-ages concert to Vail’s Ford Park for a free show featuring O.A.R. presented by Pepsi with opening act, Patrick Dethlefs. The venue opens at 6 p.m. and music gets underway at 6:30 p.m.

Since 1996, alt-rockers O.A.R. (Of a Revolution) have built an enormous fan base with seven studio albums and five live albums including Live on Red Rocks which was released in November 2012. The recording and accompanying DVD capture the band’s July 15 performance at the legendary Colorado venue during their 2012 “Summer Crush” tour. Live on Red Rocks is O.A.R.’s first live album to include the horn section that frequently tours with the group and has performed on select dates since 2011.

2013 marks O.A.R.’s third appearance in Vail, having also performed in 2009 and 2010 to enormous crowds at both events. "I'm really looking forward to coming in town for Spring Back to Vail,” said O.A.R. saxophonist, Jerry DePizzo. “It's the only show where I can rock out for thousands of fans while watching people ski down a mountain in tuxedos, bikinis, and bear suits."

O.A.R. presented by Pepsi will open with up-and-coming folk sensation Patrick Dethlefs. Denver-based Dethlefs has received critical acclaim for his honest approach to songwriting and richness in his live shows. He has shared the stage with such notables as Nathaniel Rateliff, Gregory Alan Isakov and Jeff Austin of the Yonder Mountain String Band. Dethlefs takes the stage at 6:30 p.m.

Friday’s events during Spring Back to Vail also include an expo village with sponsor giveaways at the base area of Mountain Plaza and Bud Light Après and Late Night Parties throughout Vail Village. For more information, visit www.vail.com/springback.
